BACB
Compliant with ethical behavior in RBT Ethics Code
The Behavior Analyst Certification Board® (BACB®) supports and protects consumers of applied behavior analysis (ABA) services by setting professional standards and managing certifications. The BACB establishes requirements for becoming a Registered Behavior Technician® (RBT®), enforces the RBT Ethics Code, and addresses professional misconduct. RBTs practice under the close supervision of an RBT Supervisor, prioritizing client interests and ethical principles. They must report ethics violations and seek guidance when facing ethical dilemmas, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
The RBT Ethics Code is enforced through the BACB’s procedures, requiring RBTs to comply with its standards and all BACB requirements. Ignorance is not an excuse for non-compliance. RBTs must also follow laws and regulations from other entities like employers and licensure boards.
Behavior analysts, certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), deliver ABA services following ethical guidelines outlined in the Ethics Code. The Code ensures professional standards, ethical behavior, and consumer protection. It includes core principles, a glossary, and ethics standards across six sections to guide behavior analysts' work and decision-making.
In cases of BACB requirement violations or imminent harm, the BACB can take summary actions against applicants or certificants. These actions are expedited, and appeals are allowed. The appeal process applies to summary actions taken by all BACB departments.
